We celebrated Christmas until I was probably 5, that's when my mom got baptized. My Dad still insisted on putting up a tree for a few years. I would just watch and wish I could decorate too as my Mom read to us from My Book of Bible stories. She was reading a story about Adam and Eve got kicked out of the garden because they ate fruit from the forbidden tree. I thought I could trick my Mom into letting us participate in Christmas so I asked, Is it ok to have a Christmas Tree as long as you don't eat its fruits? It didn't work, no Christmas fun that year.

I saw this movie yesterday. It was OK. I went into the theater knowing nothing about the story, so I think that made it more interesting for me.But, after seeing so many Hollywood Blockbusters, after the first 10 minutes, you know what is going to happen and when its going to happen. The ending was pretty tired. I am no fan of Will Smith but I think he did a good job. He has matured as an actor and there wasn't any of the smartassy Will Smith dialogue.

MTS School
by Black Man inwhen will the wts admit that this arrangement is a bust - financially, emotionally, aesthetically.
mts was something that started in 1987 for those who wanted to pursue other avenues of services without having to go through bethel service.
it originally was intended to be an abbreviated gilead course with brothers receiving assignments to go into the circuit work, missionary service, special pioneer work or to serve where the need was greater (which oftentimes translated to the boonies or starkly rural areas).

I don't know about this. The brothers that I knew who went seem to have gotten all they wanted from the program: praise and adoration. The one brother pretty much half asses everything (including his well-paying secular job) but gets away with it because he knows how to work the system. He's pretty high-profilie and has all the perks that go along with it. The other brother is dirt poor and sacrifices everything, but his congregation gives him everything he needs and then some. Why does this brother give up so much? Because he's banking on being given a cushy assignment at a

I have to say, girls can be pretty rotten. I had a friend who would flirt with boys and act like she liked them until they wanted to be her boyfriend. Then she would never talk to them again. Then she would "complain" to everyone about how hard her life was because so many boys were in love with her.
Yeah, I remember the guy at our hall who all the mothers thought would be the perfect husband. Not cute at all and shapeless, totally unconcerned with his apperance (but not in a cool disheveled way) lived with his parents, couldn't afford his own car or even pants that fit. Why,oh why, would spending the rest of my life with something like this be a great idea? Oh, yeah, he's a pioneer that wants to go to MTS. He ended up marrying a really cute girl from a well-off family.

Mashed sweet potatoes - with butter, orange juice and ginger. That's what I'm making on the stove with my ham.

One thing I could never understand. Noboby, I mean nobody ever tried to discourage me and my friends from going out in service. Why did everyone seem to think it was a great idea to send a group of cute teenage girls to strangers' homes? Where are these people's brains? I never mentioned anything about it for fear of being labled weak or lazy or trying to get out of service. I was stupid, too.

Is the "My Book of Bible Stories" appropriate reading for Little Ones?
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy little boy, aged 4 1/2 loves his bedtime stories, and also loves "jesus stories" as he calls them... .
now, i have never gotten around to going to a book store and actually buying a childrens bible story book from the shops (yes...i still have a bit of a mental block and some deep seated issues about any religious literature).
my mom gave my kids a copy of the bible story book, as well as listening to the great teacher (the new soft cover book - think it is called that?

The CO Wants Everyone In Hall To Get A Bible Study
by minimus inhe said, "enough with just offering the magazines.
you need to directly ask people for a bible study.
don't be like the man that stays engaged for years to a woman but never makes a commitment!

No body wants the responsibility of a Bible study. But I agree with Sir Nose, you gotta string those householders along. You start asking everyone for a Bible study, they all turn you down, then you have no where to waste your time Saturday a.m.
